Little French dollhouse parlour

Working on the dollhouse parlour today and all is not well.  I am having problems with the electrics.  The two small sconces are now wired  but won't work on the same power bar and even with two power bars and the sconces being the only thing on the power bars, the bulbs are very, very dim.  I have a short somewhere??  I can't figure it out. Each sconce will dimly work individually but not together. Super frustrating.
This little house is going to be the death of me!

I made a little sliding door in the fireplace opening so I could get at the electrics if needed, or that was the plan...  I had to pull the whole wall away and that is how it is sitting at the minute. I need to figure this all out.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the parlour.  I haven't decided what to do for an overmantle yet, and the crown molding is cut and painting waiting for the problems to get sorted and then the ceiling/ floor can go up.

    1. Muchas gracias, creo que he descubierto el problema. Tenía una bombilla soplada y enchufé el aplique en ambos barritos, por lo tanto, soplé ambos fusibles. Parece que tengo que aprender todo lo difícil!

  2. I looks beautiful! But I sympathise with the lighting. It frustrates me enough that I don't tend to put it in all my houses. I hope someone can help you out. If not, try one of the online forums. Good luck!

    1. Right? Believe me last night I thought about just not having the sconces light up but I know that would make me lose sleep for days so I have to solve it.

    1. Thanks so much, I have torn the wall apart, but I think it can go back together without much damage. I think I have solved the problem, but query why I must learn everything the hard way!

  4. It all looks lovely and hopefully you'll get your lighting sorted out - I always see it as an exercise in bad language! Have you tried removing and re-screwing the lightbulbs? That has worked for me in the past.

    1. Yep, I had a little tiny freak out and followed it up with a couple of glasses of wine. I have discovered that the problem was a bulb and not recognizing that soon enough caused me to blow out the fuses on both power bars which only added to my confusion.

  5. The room is beautiful. I am sorry the wiring is giving you such a hard time. I hope you get it worked out soon. Mean time... Bad language (as Irene called it) might make you feel better. ;-(

    1. Thanks Catherine, I now know what I have done wrong and how to fix it. Of course I have to steal a bulb from the chandelier that is need for the roof so alas I have created yet another delay for myself lol.

  7. I am so glad you were able to resolve the electrical "blow out". It is so discouraging when it seems to be unresolvable. Luckily you left the problem and fortified yourself with wine.
    It is a lovely room.
Looking forward to following your progress.

  10. I can understand your frustration too.... but I am really glad to hear you might have solved it! I do know that I have a couple of light fixtures for twelve volt systems that have very low watt bulbs... so even when everything is working just right, they don't give much light. It was discouraging to discover this after everything was wired! Perhaps you can pretend the "candles" are just not giving much light! I do look forward to seeing more progress in this beautiful house you are building! Don't give up!

  11. According to Stanford Medical, It is indeed the ONLY reason this country's women live 10 years more and weigh 42 lbs lighter than us.

(And by the way, it has NOTHING to do with genetics or some hard exercise and really, EVERYTHING about "HOW" they are eating.)

P.S, What I said is "HOW", and not "WHAT"...
